Matter: Adverse Information in Personnel File — General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand
Summary: My client, an Army Reserve captain with a professional degree, was in danger of having his career cut short when he first called me. A 15-6 investigation initiated by his major command resulted in a General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMOR) being filed in the performance section of his Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). This was a good man and outstanding officer whose promotion potential and career were in serious jeopardy. The GOMOR effectively resulted in my client being twice non-selected for promotion to 0-4.
Outcome: After extended advocacy with the Department of the Army Suitability Evaluation Board (DASEB), including an appeal of an initial unfavorable decision, DASEB found that the GOMOR had served its intended purpose, and ordered that the reprimand and all accompanying adverse information be removed from client’s performance fiche. After removal, client was selected for promotion and subsequently pinned on his Major’s gold oak leaves.
